To keep your HVAC system running in tip-top shape, we recommend a maintenance appointment twice a year (once for heat, once for air conditioning). This way, we can check your filters, coils, wiring, housing, motor and more to make sure you’re getting the most out of your system.
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values, or MERVs, report a filter's ability to capture particles between 0.3 and 10 microns. The higher the number, the smaller the size of particles it can capture.
This varies depending on the type of filter you have. If you have cheaper, disposable filters, we recommend changing them every 30 days. If you have pleated, or poly, filters, we recommend changing them every 90 days. Media filters filters can last a lot longer and should be replaced about once a year.
A little variation in temperature between rooms is normal, especially if you only have one thermostat. However, it can also be a sign of poorly designed ducts or air filtration issues. Schedule a free consultation so we can identify the problem and offer solutions to fix it.
Ideally, you would want to upgrade to a newer system that uses a modern refrigerant like R410A, though we understand this isn't always feasible. It is important to properly maintain your older system in order to make sure it is not leaking refrigerant. It only getting harder to acquire and more expensive to replace!
